Excellent guide – up to date, really clear and just the right amount of detail.

Very prompt delivery of this lovely little book. I only chanced upon the Three Forests Way at the weekend and I’m now eyeing up maps of the whole 95km route! Thanks, Peter

Decent guide, although it pays to pay attention to both text AND maps if one isn’t to stray off the path, and in doing that the guide itself can become rather too much your point of focus (and not the walk itself); However, winging it will result in back tracking, and a fair amount of swearing.
Many parts are overgrown, some neglected (sometimes one suspects deliberately so), others quite ambiguous and there are some changes/redirections now, since this guide was written. We have a feeling very few people walk this trail and most locals aren’t even aware there is such a walk.
The Three Forests signs are few and far between, rarely where you need them and often where you don’t.
Returning to the guide book itself, we are grateful the author took the time to write the guide because it is a beautiful trail, but the text could be more concise and more closely tagged to the maps – if you do lose your way it is not always easy to find your way back.
Book itself is inexpensive, so churlish to complain really, and of course these paths change over time for a variety of reasons quite beyond the control of the author.
Three stars because it is not water proof and could be more incisive.

Thanks for the review; I’m pleased you found it a beautiful trail. It is complex though, and as you say not as well-walked as some, so the maps are important to help stay on track. There’s now an update available as a free download from my site (indeed for all my Trailman guides), for there have been some important recent changes. Sorry to lose stars because the guide is not waterproof – I don’t know of a guidebook publisher that does.
